African Education Program

Identity Program

Our 6-week culture and identity program for young African people in Australia
is an initiative to support youth in exploring, preserving, and celebrating their
cultural heritage while fostering a sense of identity and belonging in Australia.
This program provides a safe and inclusive space for participants to engage in

cultural education, storytelling, and mentorship. It aims to promote cross-
cultural understanding, resilience, and self-esteem, helping young people

navigate the challenges of dual identity, address stereotypes, and develop
skills for personal growth and community leadership.

Youth Justice Support Program

Culturally Responsive Support

Our YJ support program for young people is a culturally responsive initiative
designed to support youth involved in the justice system. The program aims to
reduce recidivism by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour
through mentorship, education, and advocacy. 

Trauma-Informed Counseling and Life Skills

It provides trauma-informedcounselling, life skills training, family support, and connections to positive rolemodels within the community. The program fosters resilience, accountability,and reintegration by supporting pathways to education, employment, andsocial inclusion while addressing systemic barriers and promoting culturalidentity. The support is provided to individuals within the community.

Mental Health Support

Holistic, Culturally Safe Care

Our culturally safe and culturally responsive mental health support program
for youth and disadvantaged families provides holistic, trauma-informed care
that acknowledges and respects cultural identities, traditions, and lived
experiences. 

Foster Trust

The support fosters trust through culturally appropriate practicesand community engagement. It offers tailored support, including counselling,peer mentorship, and family interventions, while addressing systemic barriersand promoting social inclusion. The aim is to empower individuals and familiesby blending evidence-based mental health strategies with cultural knowledge,ensuring a supportive and respectful environment.

Legal Assistance

Expert Guidance

Mät partners with legal professionals to provide free legal assistance to
communities facing hardships across Melbourne. Through expert guidance,
advocacy, and representation, we ensure fair access to justice, empowering
individuals and families to navigate legal challenges with confidence and
support.

Mentoring

Supporting Development

Our mentoring service empowers individuals through cultural support,
academic assistance, and employment and training opportunities. We provide
guidance, skills development, and connections to resources, helping individuals
achieve their personal and professional goals while embracing their cultural
identity.
